Former NFL Player and Alumni Return to Carver

On Friday, February 5th,several very special guests visited the students at Carver Middle School. Carver High School alumni returned to Carver for an assembly honoring former NFL player and Carver graduate Howard Williams. Williams played in the NFL for nine years and played for two teams: the Green Bay Packers and the Oakland Raiders. He also played in the National Football Championship and Superbowl II. After speaking to students about his life and career, Dr. Booker opened the floor for questions. Our students were excited to inquire about Spartanburg in the 1960’s and learn what it was like for Mr. Williams to play in the NFL.
Mr. Williams also attended a ceremony at Spartanburg High School in the afternoon as a Golden Football Honoree and a NFL High School Honoree.
